What the Commission found

What it recommended

What happened next

  1. No charges reported. Sunday World reported the EFF's complaint that he had not been charged.4
  2. No action reported. The Investigating Directorate denied reports that it planned to arrest him and said it does not comment on investigations.3
  3. Court review dismissed. The Johannesburg High Court dismissed his application to set aside the Commission's recommendation that he be investigated, on the technical ground that consent to sue Zondo had not been obtained. BusinessDay reported that the recommendation still holds.5

Their response

Mantashe admitted he did not pay for the security upgrades but denied wrongdoing and argued the ANC had little influence over state contracts. He took the Commission's recommendation on review.
